Hydrangea and how to care for the beauts!

I recently delivered 6 gorgeous table centres to a client having their wedding anniversary in Wales.  Unfortunately I was unable to dress the room myself due to other commitments the next day so my task was to provide some sturdy and long lasting beach themed centres that could withstand the journey!  The result was lovely – I chose to depict the theme using ribbon similar to that of the bride’s original wedding dress, along with pastel ivory containers and lilac and periwinkle blooms.  The key to these arrangements was texture – the billowing blooms of hydrangea set a perfect backdrop for the flow of grasses, lavender, aster and the feathery prickles of eryngium.  The key to keeping the hydrangea happy is a dunk in cool water, low temperatures and a  spritz of water over the blooms a few times throughout the day.  Remember hydrangeas drink both from the petals and the stem.  Needless to say, the arrangements lasted well and looked lovely on the day!
